'Up to 85 per cent of people may be clairvoyant' says a researcher
Dr Chris Roe places a pair of enormous fluffy earphones over the head of a blonde 20-year-old woman.
He carefully slices a ping-pong ball in half and tapes each piece over her eyes.
Then he switches on a red light that bathes the woman in an eerie glow, and leaves the room.
After a few moments, a low hum begins to fill the laboratory and the woman begins smiling sweetly to herself as images of distant locations start to pass through her mind.
She says she can sense a group of trees and a babbling brook full of boulders.
Standing on a boulder is her friend Jack. He's waving at her and smiling. She begins to describe the location to Dr Roe.
Half a mile away, her friend Jack is, indeed, standing on a boulder in a stream.
Somehow, the woman has been able to "see" Jack in her mind's eye, even though all of conventional science - and common sense - says it is impossible.
Is this simply a bizarre coincidence?
Or could it be proof that we all possess psychic powers of the type popularised in such films as Minority Report?
That is what Dr Roe is investigating. A parapsychologist based at the University of Northampton, he is examining whether it could indeed be possible to project your "mind's eye" to a distant location and observe what is going on - even if that place is hundreds of miles away.
And though the research is not yet complete, the results have been tantalising.
His early findings suggest that up to 85 per cent of people may possess some form of clairvoyance - the ability to "remote view".
And he believes that with only a modicum of training we can all sharpen our psychic skills.
"Our results are significant," says Dr Roe.
"They suggest that remote viewing, or clairvoyance, is something that should be taken seriously."
It would be easy to dismiss such claims as laughable, were it not for the fact that an increasing number of scientists are taking them seriously.
While Dr Roe's work may appear controversial, he is starting to garner the support of eminent academics such as Professor Brian Josephson, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist from Cambridge University, who says: "The experiments have been designed to rule out luck and chance. I consider the evidence for remote viewing to be pretty clear-cut."
The military is also taking a keen interest. The Ministry of Defence takes the phenomena seriously enough to have commissioned its own research.
Documents only recently released under the Freedom of Information Act detail a series of experiments on psychic phenomena.
Unfortunately, the actual details of the experiments that were carried out - and what the conclusions were - are still classified, and intriguingly the MoD refuses to say whether they were a success.
They claim that releasing such details would imperil the defence of the nation, and what little information has been released is described as "poor quality" by Dr Roe.
"Their analysis of the data is quite frankly, woeful," he says.
But the very existence of such files suggests that the military are taking the possibility of psychic phenomena seriously.
In fact, most existing scientific knowledge on clairvoyance is based on other recently declassified military research undertaken in America during the Cold War.

Thanks Smokin-Joe and Chiselray. I wonder if given the 85% who seem to have it, that the rest of the population is so unaware or so closed off that they don't know or use that awareness. I strongly believe that everyone has the ability as it seems to be in the makeup of the human brain. I do personally know people who are able to do this. Thanks again for the research information. Dr. Roe is right on in his research. So glad that scientists are beginning to enter these realms of reality. Siva |

| i too belive EVERYONE has some form os physcic ability, but just as other things it varies from person to person. maybe those other 15% just have low-to-no natural remote veiwing skill, or physcic ability at all. and i remember hearing about the governments remote veiwing program. they actually managed to get a couple of people to start training classes, and it worked in favor of the US government on many occasions, including recovering several POW. that is, until the program disbanded. the guys who worked for the government still teach this stuff, but now to the public. |

They had several remote viewing programs, it was in response to the USSR's similar programs. They worked, they worked well, and pretty accurate. I've heard stories of NASA using some remote viewers as well, but I can't back this up so take it or leave it.
Something really interesting is the super psychic phenom that has surfaced in the last 40 years. There's a book called "China's super psychics that goes over this in good detail.

It has supposedly been documented by nature magazine and by Omni magazine, I have yet to find either of these articles, but the things these kids can do are certainly miraculous. I know somebody who actually experienced something very close to the tv screen that all of these kids describe seeing.

| I think it's possible, seems people tap into these abilities in times of tragedy or great distress though mostly. I know that a cousin of mine saw the death of our Aunt the night that it happened. She woke up screaming, ran and dove on top of my Step-Mother screaming, "He's killing her, he's killing her!". She was found in a ditch along a remote dirt road. |

I think we all have the basics to have those abilities although I doubt that we are volved enough to unlock them yet...
Just look at all stupidity in the world right now...how could anyone posses psychic powers? |

I've seen certain psychic abilities proven beyond any shadow of a doubt. The thing is, most people get spooked by it so much that they simply deny it or try to explain it away. People who can't do it are scared of those who can. Anyone who is good at it learns to just be quiet about it. Psychic abilities unfortunately do not sit up and salute in laboratory environments so scientific testing is usually inconclusive or negative. I'm really good at predicting baseball plays. Once I actually said out loud, foolishly, that there was going to be grand slam and about 5 minutes later that is exactly what happened. At the time I said it there was no one even on base and people thought I was crazy.
Its not the first time either. Once I was watching the Houston Astros play in a season they were in the playoffs and it was that year that Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa were going for the home run record. This was a very important game for the Astros and they were losing late but had the bases loaded and Jeff Bagwell was batting. ESPN cut away from MY GAME to look at one more useless replay of Mark McGuire hitting a home run that didn't even matter. I was fire spitting mad yelling and screaming because I knew that Bagwell was right in the middle of hitting a grand slam to win the game. Yep, I was right. And I didn't get to see any part of it, even the replays! That was the last time I watched a game on ESPN. They've been on my permanent S-list ever since. That really freaked people out. I knew I should've shut the hell up. |

Proof? R U kidding? That is a dangerous thing to do. If you mean written proof or scientific studies, they are out there but you have to hunt. I don't know of much legitimate study available on the net. But I would think the Stargate program falls into this category and you can find docs for that right here on BV. One of the participants in the Stargate program is a relative of mine.
I'll bet DNA studies, if they ever saw the light of day, would reveal much, especially studies of certain families. Tie that to certain historical migrations and you've hit the jackpot. |

There is pleanty of scientific emprical studies, that have been peer reviewed, going back over 100 years. There is way to much to list, but any moderately skilled researcher can dig it up. Dean Radin and Gary Schwartz have, in the back of their books, great references if you really are interested in the truth.
It is better not to refer to the cognitive foresight as being psychic.
That is too limiting. It is better described simply as a sense of knowing.
Evidence of this foresight is written throughout human history.
There is little doubt that it is an innate ability, like a sense of hearing, and like the other five sense, we have been taught to filter what we sense through a rigid set of taught, reductionist filters.
Those better at perceiving the truth, are those who are less influenced by their upbringing and indoctrination. |
