Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford was arrested this morning on federal charges and is being held at the federal courthouse, the FBI and other federal officials confirm.
A special grand jury for several months has been investigating county bond deals and Langford's financial dealings. Langford was Jefferson County Commission president 2002-06
Al LaPierre, a close friend of Langford's who also was part of the federal investigation, will be surrendering today, said his attorney, Tommy Spina.
David McKnight, Montgomery banker Bill Blount's attorney, said Blount is on his way to Birmingham from Montgomery to surrender.
The Langford, LaPierre and Blount indictments are under seal, so details of the charges are not available.

| Lol. Not likely. That would be politic suicide, the African Americans are still less numerous then the "white man", so even if 100% of the black population dismissed the incident, I don't think the remainder of the country would be as forgiving. |

| Well yeah, but like I said even if a hundred percent of the black population over looks that sort of unfairness, the rest of the country won't, or at least shouldn't. And not 100% of the black population would look over the incident just because of Obama's ethnicity. |

Oh, I was aware of that, but that's not considered blatant, because not everyone will come to the same conclusion, it's only blatant if it is obvious, without a doubt.
He could have been at the church all that time without knowing. And it doesn't stand to reason that he would intentionally bring it up and leave, rather than simply change churches privately. |
